Effective Ways to Increase Your Conversion Rate

Collaborative content

You have a really good business website with an excellent blog and you see that lots of people are making the effort to visit and read your content when it’s published, but despite that, you aren’t seeing many of those visitors make a purchase.

It can be very frustrating when this happens, but first of all, you need to bear in mind that having 1 or 2 people in every 100 clicks through and buy something is pretty good; the average conversion rate is around the 2 percent mark for websites, and if you’re hitting that target you are in fact doing well.

If you aren’t even close, then it could be that you need to do some work to get your conversion rate up. If that’s the case, the following may help:

Put a pop-up on your homepage

This might seem counterintuitive because most of us still think of pop-ups as being really annoying, but the stats don’t lie, and according to research carried out by Sumo, the average conversion rate of website pop-ups is 3.9 percent, but can be as high as 10 percent if you supercharge your pop-ups by including irresistible offers and using a timer so they don’t get too annoying, amongst other things.

Simplify forms

Getting people to fill in online forms, any web agency that deals with conversion optimization will tell you, can be tricky. However, forms are one of the best ways to get the details of visitors so that you can go on to sell to them later.

Luckily, you can dramatically increase the number of people who submit forms by simplifying them so there are fewer boxes for them to fill in. It’s so simple, but you’d be surprised how many businesses overcomplicate things in this area!

Include testimonials and reviews

Many people, no matter how much they love the content your business produces, will be hesitant to buy anything from your company without social proof.

Social proof is basically things like testimonials and reviews of your company and the products and services you sell. It reassures potential customers that you can deliver on your promises and provide them with quality products and services, If you do not include social proof on your website, it will be much more difficult to convert your traffic into sales than it really needs to be.

Make the first step simple

Whether this means asking for no more information than an email address or ensuring that you have one-click payment options available, anything you can do to make taking the first step toward buying as simple as possible for the customer will increase their chances of doing so considerably because, once they’ve taken the first step, they’ll probably take the next and eventually they will become a customer.

You can increase your conversion rate, but you need to put the effort in, so make a start right now and it won’t be long before those clicks are converting into sales like never before!
